My Story
The Golden Child? Nah!
As the fifth child in the family, it was said that Dad wanted a kid just like him. Well, Mom delivered on that request almost exactly. This primarily translated into spending the better part of my youth in athletic competition. I was thus dubbed the Golden Child by my siblings due to perceived favoritism on the part of Mom and Dad. Throughout the years it has been said that things just seem to come to me. While I excelled in basketball and other sports, the additional lessons I learned at home and in church have projected me into a very happy and blessed life.
Perhaps the greatest lesson I learned is to have patience with perserverance. With all the kids you have to be patient and wait your turn, but you also have to perservere to ensure you get a turn. In athletics you have to recognize that one practice is not going to make you an all-star, but showing up everyday and perservering will push you to the top. While attending Brigham Young University, I became enamored with Entrepreneurship. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but knew I wanted to do something. I have generated and been presented with many ideas but never felt passionate about any of them. In the meantime, I studied entrepreneurship, leadership and general business topics for the past 10 years waiting for an opportunity to pursue. In 2005 I became excited about the opportunity of launching www.myplace2sell.com and decided to execute. The business finally launched in August 2007 after much patience and driven perserverance. With my wife Megan we have created something that we hope will influence the lives of many people.
Sound Bites
Most common comment from people at the grocery store: “You have your hands full.” They say this since I am walking around with my four kids.
My advice to people at the grocery store: “Whenever I feel like I have my hands full, I pray for bigger hands. I couldn’t imagine life without these kids.”
My Hero: My sweet wife Megan. I married way up! Ofcourse, that wasn’t too hard to marry up.
Never Ending Story: Besides the actual movie my sisters used to watch, the Bird story will not die.
