Yip. Do you guys every work together? We collaborate when it makes sense. More often we brainstorm ideas together or help one another find ways to further individual endeavors. For example, Shannon got started in television when Shelley and Paul were featured on an HGTV home make-over show. Working as Shannon’s design assistant, Brooke’s work got noticed. She subsequently received calls to work on other shows. Paige is the family editor, Lane has designed many-o-logos and BJ asks the financial questions (“Uh…great idea, but how will you make money at it?) It’s not unusual for Darren to come over for a social visit only to find a stack of paper and a flair marker waiting for his arrival. We’ve all benefitted from Brooke’s web and graphic design talents. So, which kids are the Artists? Although Paige is masterful with a black sharpie pen, the only true “pen to paper” artists in the family are Darren, Shannon, Lane, and Brooke. Shelley’s work is more “crafty” and Brandon won’t show us anything he’s done. Which kids have the musical talents? Mom taught us all to play the piano, but only Shannon and Paige continued their lessons. Darren followed in Dad’s footsteps by learning to play the guitar. Everybody sings, but only Darren, Lane, and Brooke can fly solo without getting wobbly knees. We’ve heard rumors that Brandon has a very nice voice, but he won’t sing in front of us. So You think you can Dance? Not all of us. Although Lane has absolutely no professional training, he won a spot on his college dance team and subsequently became a professional dancer and choreographer. This is a bit ironic because the rest of us spent many hours in the gym playing high school sports, and yet Lane is probably the most athletic of us all. |
